Nowadays Ravenna is a peaceful small town but during the 5th century it was the capital of the Western Empire. Several artistic accomplishments were completed during that period. Ravenna is world-known for its colorful and rich mosaics, the most important in the world. In addition to its many churches and magnificent mosaics, Ravenna also hosts Dante Alighieri’s grave.
